Like listening to music? Meet Matt Brown.
His idea came to him when he was in his final year of school. Like a lot of musos, Matt hated wasting time transcribing music he wrote and wanted to spend more time playing it with his band. With a passion for technology, he decided to study electrical engineering, which taught him the skills to create a cutting-edge software program that can listen to music and transcribe it for him.
Now he’s a kick-ass audio engineer bringing together music and technology for songs and ad campaigns, including Daniel Johns’ latest campaign for David Jones. “I love to combine my passion for engineering with creating amazing sound.”
Matt also works at Cochlear, which is a pretty remarkable company – it creates devices that allow deaf people to hear. He’s a Digital Signal Processing Engineer there, where he writes algorithms in code that makes deaf people hear and be heard. “I get to attend ‘switch-ons’ which are a fitting session where a Cochlear implant recipient hears for the very first time.”
